Sadhana Yoga A strong inner calling drew Ali Hale Tilley (Sadhana Yoga's founder) from her spiritual adventures in Tibet and India back home to New Zealand. On the weeks leading up to her return, Ali heard her inner voice repeatedly calling 'go to Wellington, go to Miramar!' As soon as she stepped foot back in the country Ali followed her calling and signed the lease on 9 Park Road the next day. Sadhana Yoga now offers a community of yogis a divine atmosphere where everyone feels supported on their personal journey to awakening. The atmosphere of Sadhana Yoga is very relaxed and friendly and the classes integrates a practical, physical western approach within a sacred eastern-style setting. The various styles of yoga, meditation and pilates classes offers the practioner an opportunity to work mind, body and spirit for many beneficial results. Regular practice (sadhana) helps to remove physical and mental stiffness to gain overall flexibility. Combining breath and movement in a non-competitive setting gives the subtle body with the opportunity to release tension and rebalance energy. All levels and age groups are welcome. Even if you arrive feeling tired and worn out you should feel great after class. The studio is open 15 minutes before each class and Ali offers her classes a complimentary tea in a relaxed social environment at the end of each class. The name Miramar means 'behold the sea' and aptly so because the beautiful Wellington harbour can be viewed from all around the peninsula. According to Maori legend, the famous explorer Kupe camped in the sheltered flax groves of the Miramar peninsula. Once a separate island, with the sea flowing across the isthmus through Kilbirnie, Miramar is now a sleepy hollow with an eclectic mix of residents. |
